Inaugural Wellie Walk

Today was my first day to walk in my new wellies! It has been quite a shock to go from sunny in the 90s to rainy in the 60s. Since it was POURING today I wore my brand-spanking-new-from -the-US-(thanks, Mom!)-polka-dotted wellies.

New Wellies Fun Facts:

1. They are tastefully understated, yet still fun and stylish.
2. I can now laugh in the face of looming puddles. Ha-ha-ha.
3. With wellies and raincoat there is now only approximately 25% of my body that passing cars can attempt to splash. I almost felt like daring them today, but wasn't quite that brave.
4. To wear wellies appropriately you need to tuck your trousers into them. Start out as if you are doing the early 90s tight-roll and then tuck into your boot.
5. Said wellies are a creative solution to packing woes. One housed Taco Bell mild sauce packets as it made the trans-Atlantic journey that my family saved up for me. The other held two brownie mixes. You have to make every square centimeter count! Plus they protected my precious commodities from undue jostling during the flight.

So the only downside to the new wellies is that I can't run past The Puddle quite as quickly now, but fortunately I had a pretty large window of time to clear it today - 6 car lengths - and safely made it. My mood was so lifted by my fun polka-dotted shoes I was even able to write a song on the way to work.

My new motto: Everyone should have wellies!
