For day two of my Paris adventure we visited Versailles. It was phenomenal - definitely the most grandiose place I've ever visited. We were blessed with a clear morning, but that meant that it was freezing! Good thing I had multiple layers on to help me survive as we did our sight-seeing.
A view from the gate as we walked in. There was no way to take a picture that could capture the enormity of the palace.
A view of the palace chapel. The paintings on the ceiling were amazing.
Super-tacky, completely-gaudy, I-can't-believe-they-polluted-the-beauty-of-this-room sculpture on display. There was a visiting exhibition and these sculptures were everywhere. It really made me want to find the director of special displays and ask if he had lost his mind to pollute such stateliness with such ugliness. I refrained.
The famous Hall of Mirrors. Forgive the blurriness. Every time I went to snap a picture the man in the middle would move. After 13 attempts, I just lived with it.
I'm the person on the far left. I thought I should document for posterity that not only did I see the Hall of Mirrors, I was a part of it! For the record, I think every dwelling in Europe should have a hall of mirrors. It magnifies the sunlight!
Trying to capture the vastness of the palace from the back.
Another try.
A view down the back garden. Did you know that the canals actually get wider the further away from the palace that you are? It's so that it all appears to be the same width when you look at it from a distance. Even though the flowers weren't in bloom and the statues were covered, it was still pretty impressive.
The sun came out for us as we were leaving, and then it started to snow.

Eight years ago December 27, I touched down in Paris for the first time on my honeymoon. :) I remember the lights and temps clearly! I love Paris, but London is my next goal as we've done Paris twice. Hopefully, for the tenth anniversary...
