Sheffield Park Gardens

Saturday was glorious.  I mean GLOR-I-OUS!  Blue skies, sunshine, and two-jacket-worthy (as opposed to the normal need-a-fleece-under-a-heavy-coat-at-a-minimum).  Glorious!  To take advantage of the weather we headed to Sheffield Park Gardens, another National Trust.  I'm so thankful for the NT, without it I would have to sit at home most weekends.

View of the house.  Unfortunately, the house isn't open for visitors, but it's still pretty impressive from the outside.

One of several lakes in the garden.  This was a true landscape garden with the pathways designed to meander through the grounds coming upon beautiful glens or vistas with each bend in the path.
A view of the house from across the pond.

The daffodils were blooming - they make me happy.

I love the reflections in the water.  And the trees - they remind me of lace.

Zooming in on the house - it was enormous.  I cannot imagine living in one of these houses.  It would take you a solid week just to dust!

Several ducks were swimming in the lakes.  Some of the children would feed them bits of bread.

If you look carefully, you can see palm trees in the background.  It was like a little oasis - actually, it reminded me of a miniature golf course.  Still, I think it's bizarre that some palm trees can actually survive here.  It's almost too cold for me to survive here :)

More trees reflecting in the water.  The enormous tree on the left is a sequoia.

Hints of spring.

Palm trees in front of the rock "falls" with the house the in the background.  I told you it reminded me of miniature golf - only a bit more refined.

Wooden sheep at the entrance to the park.  I couldn't resist taking their picture.
