A Farewell to Shoes

It's official - I've worn out my favorite pair of shoes (or should I say my favorite two pairs - one black and one brown).

While walking home today in the rain I noticed that the bottom of my right foot felt wet. I thought it was weird. When I got home, I checked it out. Sure enough, the sole is completely split horizontally all the way across the ball of my foot (these are the black shoes).

Then, I had to go to the store, so I committed a great fashion faux pas and wore my brown look-alike shoes. Yep, same thing.

Bummer.

But, they have been fabulous shoes. How many of you have a pair of shoes that can stand up to all weather, cobblestone streets, uneven sidewalks, 15-20 miles per week and last for over a year? The way I figure it, each pair has at least 500 miles on it, maybe more.

Maybe I should make a cape for them with a big S on them before I lay them to rest for the final time.

I shall remember them fondly.

But I'm still glad for an excuse to go shoe shopping!
