Does the verb to hoover mean:
a) to hang fluttering or suspended in the air
b) to be reminiscent of the 31st president of the United States
c) to clean with a vacuum cleaner
If you guessed c) you are spot on with the meaning in Britain.
After church today several of us were talking about chores which we dislike. The consensus of the group was that hoovering was definitely the worst. After it was compared to washing dishes, cleaning the bathroom, and dusting I finally caught on.
Sometimes I'm slow.
It just sounds funny - "my least favorite chore is hoovering." It sounds like a made up word to my American ear.
So how about you? Does hoovering rank as your least favorite too?
Let me know what you think.

Honestly, I would rather 'hoover' than dust anyday!!!!! Connor and Natalie thought this was a funny post! :-)
hoovering is my favorite...dusting my least
I would list hoovering AND dusting as my very least favorites! I'd clean the bathroom or kitchen 16 times before hoovering!
