Family Fun Day

Today was Family Fun Day at my church.  I helped out with the Jar Hoopla stall, which is basically a ring toss.  It was a great success and had a good turn-out.  Here are a few British-isms I learned during the day.
  • Cakes basically refers to all baked goods except bread.
  • Sweets means candy
  • Nevermind is the British equivalent of a commiserating "Maybe next time" or "Oh, that's okay."
  • Well done! is always used for "Good job," "Excellent," or "You did it!"  It doesn't seem as though this expression has variations.
  • Stalls are booths.
  • To have a go means to take a turn.
  • Tidy up means to all out clean up, not just pick up a few things.
  • That's alright is the correct response to Thank You.
