The Way Home: A Review

My cousin, Sharon, recently introduced me to BookSneeze.  In exchange for a review, Thomas Nelson sends a free copy of the product for me to read or watch.  Since I love to read and don't mind a good film I decided to give it a go.  The Way Home was the first DVD sent to me to review.

The Way Home is the poignant story of the events surrounding the Simpkins family after their two year old son, Joe, vanishes from their yard as they are preparing to leave for vacation. Based on a true story, the film depicts the emotions of the family, law enforcement, and the community as the search grows from the house to the surrounding areas. The plot celebrates the spirit of community through the overwhelming support, prayers, and help that many of the neighbors and surrounding church communities provide to the Simpkins during their time of crisis.

During the film, Randy Simpkins, the father, is forced to face how his misplaced priorities have contributed to his own family crisis. The Way Home will challenge you to evaluate where you place your relationship with God and with your family in your own list of priorities. Although a bit of the acting does come across somewhat cheesy at times, the overall story more than redeems the film as a whole.
