I feel so literary since living in England. To think, I've walked where Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, and Beatrix Potter walked. I've seen the scenery that inspired Wordsworth and the Bronte sisters. Now, I've seen the inspiration for the setting of Winnie-the-Pooh. It's actual name is Ashdown Forest, but it's not really much of a forest - and I think Hundred Acre Wood is much more poetic.
Looking out over the valley from the path just past Piglet's Car Park. See what I mean, not really a forest, more of a scrubby meadow.
At last we found some full grown trees. Forgive the haze in the pictures - it really was a nice scene.
I went with a friend and her two children. The forest just begged to be frolicked in.
Cool view.
The plaque dedicated to A.A. Milne and E.H. Shepard - the creators of Winnie-the-Pooh.
No trip is complete with out a visit to the Pooh Bridge.
There it is!
Such an idyllic atmosphere.
We played Pooh Sticks - here is my stick racing down the creek.
Winnie-the-Pooh's house. We knocked, but unfortunately he wasn't at home..
