Skipping Christmas Thanksgiving

Have you ever seen the movie Christmas with the Kranks?  It's based on the John Grisham book Skipping Christmas and is pretty funny.  The predicaments that the Kranks find themselves in make for good entertainment.  This year, I can relate a bit to the plot line; I kind of feel like I'm skipping Thanksgiving.  It didn't start out that way.  I didn't purposefully think, hmmm . . . . how can I skip Thanksgiving?  It just kind of happened.

Have no fears, I'm not skipping the being thankful part.  But, instead of staying close to home and celebrating the traditional Thanksgiving meal with American colleagues, I'm headed to Paris.  Of Eiffel Tower fame, not the Tennessee version.  So, while you are gathering with family and enjoying traditions, I'll be eating chocolate for breakfast and seeing how many layers I can wear at the same time as I sight-see in the cold.

You may wonder, what on earth would make her do this?  Well, it's hard to be away from home during the holidays.  And a traditional Thanksgiving meal without the family and family traditions is like chocolate chip cookies without any chocolate chips in them . . . still good, but not at all the same.  So, this time, I decided to go for something totally different and Paris it is.

I'll keep you posted on how it goes.  And, Grannie, please go ahead and plan to make extra dressing next year, because I'll be back home to enjoy the traditions and family all at the same time.
