When I was in college, one phrase that was always looked upon as a "West Tennessee Colloquialism" complete with nods and snickers was "I reckon."
Well, today, I felt vindicated. My British pastor used the phrase in his sermon, not once, but twice. And others regarded it as normal.
So take that, my misinformed college friends.
If it's an acceptable part of the proper King's (or is it Queen's?) English, then it's good enough for me.
