He is Risen!
He is Risen indeed!
Today, our church celebrated Easter with an all-age service. It was a good service of reflecting on the joy that we have in Jesus as the Risen Lord.
After the service, I was in "tradition-withdrawal," so I headed to youtube to find a rousing rendition of Up from the Grave He Arose. But alas, a satisfying recording was not to be found. It's just not the same without Mr. Phil exuberantly belting out the bass part.
Several of my American friends and I got together for a picnic - in the freezing cold with short bouts of sunshine - and traditional Easter egg hunt for the kids. I was rather proud of my contribution to the egg hunt. With only brown eggs to be found it is quite the challenge to dye them well. But thanks to egg-dying kits from America used at double strength (thanks Mom!), some vinegar, and a lot of time I was even able to turn two of my brown eggs bright yellow.
So that's my Easter in a nutshell. I'm so thankful that this day has more meaning for me than just being "Chocolate Egg Day."

There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain:
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave he rose again!
And as He stands in victory
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me,
For I am His and He is mine -
Bought with the precious blood of Christ.

I too needed the traditional song, "Low in the Grave...." and knew I wouldn't get it at church this morning so I sang it to the kids on the way to church. They LOVED it! They asked me to sing it again and then Hannah asked me if I could sing it to Grani, my Mom (I told her Grani already knows that song). Turns out I didn't get to sing any songs in church this morning (due to an unruly 4 year old) so I was happy for my song service on the way to church (I sang some others, He Lives, Because He Lives, etc.)
Glad you had a good Easter!
I was so proud today...Benjamin was singing "Up From the Grave He Arose" today while he was playing! I thought of you and your blog when I started singing along with him! Wish you were here to sing it with us :)
