There were thousands of them behind a parking lot, so we took a bag and helped ourselves - this is quite common on the by-ways, so I wasn't stealing.
Don't they look yummy? Some of them weren't quite ripe, which means I can go back for more!
I picked about a liter. That would be around $12-$14 in the grocery store on sale - and it was free!!
Then I made a miniature blackberry cobbler - the berries are so good I wanted to save them to eat plain. But it's just not summer without at least one fresh blackberry cobbler, so I compromised by making a small one. Yum!
I'm guessing you were very careful not to get your hands caught by the stickers! I have both tame and wild blackberry canes at my house...the tame berries are SO much easier to pick but the wild ones are much sweeter [especially after dealing with thorns and chiggers]. What a blessing for you to find these for free!
