Seven Sisters and Beachy Head

On this nice cool, misty Saturday I was able to catch a ride with my flatmate's family that is visiting and head to the coast. We made several stops in the Seven Sisters/Beachy Head area to take in the sights. The pictures don't even begin to do the beauty of the area justice, but here they are. Try to imagine that you can feel the wind blowing in your face, smell the salt in the air, and that you're slightly damp from the light mist. Add in the pungent smell of pastureland while you're at it and you're getting closer to experiencing it.

We started off our walk at the Seven Sisters Country Park. We had to walk through part of the South Downs - a marshy area - to get out to the coast. It was really pretty and super peaceful.

More of the down-land.

I really liked the stillness of the water with just the wind rippling the top. It was so serene.

More serenity.

First glimpse of the white cliffs. This is still part of the salt-water marsh.

And we have ocean! It was a rock beach complete with some kind of cabbage looking plant to add a nice green accent. This is one of the Seven Sisters - seven white cliffs that are spectacular when viewed together.

Sheep picture - I love sheep from afar. I always think of the song "Sheep May Safely Graze" when I see them and it's comforting.

Quote of the Day:
While walking through this pasture, Julie's dad says: "Want to be adventurous . . . . RUN."
If you don't get it, you've never been in a pasture.
.
A view of more of the Sisters from Beachy Head.

Another perspective.
Random thought for you: although this is no where near Dover, I've had the "White Cliffs of Dover" song in my head all day. The only problem is I only know one line: "There'll be bluebirds over the cliffs of Dover." That's the bummer about getting a song stuck in your head, you have to know the end to be able to get it out. Feel free to help out with that if you know the song.
