The Lake District: Scenic Views

There is NO WAY that I could ever hope to capture the beauty of the hills and lakes in The Lake District, but here were my best efforts. At times I didn't even try because the beauty was so vast, so magnificent, so un-capturable. Every bit of it was another reminder of how awesome God is - His creation gives testament to it.

The wind was so fierce up here that I had to lean against the van to keep from being blown about as I captured this shot. It doesn't even begin to do justice to the beauty, but it is a memory that reminds me of my Awesome Creator.

It was amazing how one mountain would be covered in trees, and then over the next rise the next mountains were so barren. The stark contrast was amazing.

I think this tree trunk looks like an ostrich leg.

There is something about a mountain stream that speaks to my soul. Is it the sound of the rushing water that is soothing? Or, the knowledge that the water constantly renews itself? Perhaps it is the refreshing coolness that offers rest to the weary? Whatever it is, it reminds me of my Creator who loves me.

"He has given me a new song to sing,

a hymn of praise to our God.

Many will see what he has done and be amazed.

They will put their trust in the Lord."

Aira Force Waterfall - truly spectacular!

A field of ferns - this one is for my Mom. They don't even have to be watered to look this good! At least, not by a garden hose :)

Two things: Notice the stone fence in the background - they were everywhere. Then, not only is this sheep on the side of the road, it's shedding!

More mountain beauty. This picture was taken in a moving car on a road called "The Struggle." It had some amazing views, but unfortunately there weren't any pull outs to get a really great picture. This one was sheer blessing as all I did was stick my arm out the window and click.

So, this picture doesn't really fit in, but what's a weekend in England without at least one castle? Sizergh Castle was our token castle.
