Today I had my eyes checked. Most everything went well until it was time for the actual vision test where you have to read all of the letters. I kept reading the letters and getting ticks (checks) every time I came to a Z. So, I cheated and squinted to make sure it really was a Z - it was. Then, as we were almost finished I remembered "Oh no! They don't call it a zee - they call it a zed."
Fortunately, my optician was very understanding. One of these days I'm going to adapt; of course by that time I'll probably be going back home and be an oddity there. As Charlie Brown says, "Oh, good grief!"
