Catching Up
You know you're busy when you don't even have time to download your pictures from your camera to your computer! So, finally, I can catch you up on the adventure I had two Saturdays ago. It was quite the road trip and we hit all of this in one day. It was an absolutely glorious day - such a gift from the Lord as rain and cool weather were in the forecast. So, here are the highlights of our ramble to the Dorset Coast in photographs:
Thomas Hardy's cottage. So quaint - and with a thatched roof!! The garden in the front is a typical cottage garden - it looks like weeds to the undiscerning eye, but in reality it is a melodious mixture of colors, textures, and beauty.
Cool daisy picture - I need to work on my "eye."
Fuchsia - I think these look like little ballerina dancers. Every time I see them I want to put on my pointe shoes and go back to Mrs. Cornelia's studio.
Lulworth Cove - a UNESCO World Heritage Sight. I think the cave looks very Pete's Dragon-like. It took forever to time the picture to get the the splash on the rocks. The flying seagull was just an added bonus.
Boats bobbing in the cove.
An aerial shot - well, really just from the top of the cliff. Aren't the various shades of blue and green gorgeous?
The view on the other side of the cliff. Can you see the smiling face? I think this side looks very pirate-story-ish. If I ever decide to become an author this will somehow fit into my setting - it's just so cool!
View of the grass from the top the cliff - the grass is almost flat from the brisk winds. There were times that I thought my camera was going to be jerked from my hands, or that I was going to be completely swept away. Good thing I had my cardigan zipped up or I might have had an unplanned and unfortunate para-sailing adventure!
Just a neat view.
Close up of the face in the rocks. I really wanted to go check for buried treasure, but there was no time.
The next stop was Corfe Castle, another National Trust property. These ruins date back to the reign of King John - as in the bad king that Robin Hood opposed - in fact, by during his reign from 1199 - 1216 the keep was already considered "old-fashioned." We Americans so don't understand old.
